This is: Allen Capricer's Joystick.
He used to play Zork with it. After he finished Zork, he threw it out. Cali Winters then found it and hacked it to work as a joystick for her modern computer. She played Zork II with it, then threw it out. Then Bruce Gilliam found it, wrote a Linux driver for it, and tested it by playing Zork III. Finally, an artist named Jack Edison found it, and hacked it into a bit of art he called "Goldberg's Nightmare." It was controlled by a trained lizard, and it in turn controlled a robotic arm which controlled a keyboard which was connected to a computer which was running an early version of Zork IV. The lizard never made it past the fourth room.
