He is full of hate - or at least his feet are. Tony's problem was not that he was an angry person, but rather that he had a nasty disorder that caused him to have terribly smelly feet if they were confined for any period of time. It lead to him having childhood issues which gave him quite a wellspring of inspiration to write sad songs, as well as some sorted interpersonal issues - the former of which eventually gained him his shoeless girlfriend. His embracing of her mysterious shoeless ways caused him to be much less angry. It also killed his music career.
